    The other thing, in my opinion, is that it can be overwhelming for teachers too. It is more about being open to what kids need to be successful, and tech MIGHT be an option. I like that our AT model focuses on students being an advocate for themselves. I believe this is an essential part of the tech puzzle…just my thoughts!!

      Great point. The role of an Assistive Tech person reaches well beyond the role of simply finding technology. It’s about removing barriers to learning for some students. Sometimes technology does that. Sometimes it’s as simply as a changing a seating pattern . . . I also like the fact that the students are empowered to find their own solutions. It ties in so well with the competencies in the Alberta Framework for Student Learning. Problem Solving and Personal Management are key competencies we have identified for our students.
